I haven’t posted much lately for a variety of reasons. One is that I’ve been engaged in playing with software, and hardly anyone I know cares about this stuff. Last week I had lunch with a friend who is a graphic artist and web developer. We were engaged in a conversation about Drupal and Dreamweaver and making data appear on screen from a database and other similar topics. I heard the woman at the table next to us say, “No. No. Look right at me. You may not!” and I figured out that her husband wanted to get in on our conversation. A little while later the wife left to go to the ladies room, and the husband dove right in. He’s a web developer at KU, and he knew exactly what we were talking about. The three of us exchanged cards. Then the wife came back, so we politely introduced ourselves to her too. It’s hard to find people to whom you can say, “I got the Yoga Center schedule completely database-driven!” and they not only get it, but they get why it’s cool.
