After the storm

Yesterday we had an ice storm. The wind was mild and today is sunny and warm, so this storm wasn’t the crippling kind we sometimes get. A and Buster and I walked down to the pond around mid-morning, as everything was dripping off. I took pictures of the ice-covered trees, and then we got a bonus when we approached the pond.

Geese on the pond, honking like a bunch of taxis.

Catching up

Wow, it’s been two weeks since I posted anything. It’s not for lack of material – goodness knows I could write about anything, such as why my keyboard is wobbling – but for lack of time, and for a while, connectivity.

We had an ice storm two weeks ago that knocked out our internet for about four days. We live in the country and get our internet connection beamed out from a tower about a mile away. We had to wait for the ice to melt off the tower. I am a highly connected being. The loss of the web was not as boring or uncomfortable as having no electricity, but I didn’t like it one bit.

Then I had a lot of work to do, and then Mom came to visit, and then it was Christmas. Those are my excuses. I’m hoping I can get back to frequent posts. Frequency generates many ideas.

Mom is an excellent guest. Other people I know dread having parents come to visit. Some parents need to be entertained, or otherwise taken care of. Mom is fine reading a book in the living room, or coming along on errands. She likes the entertainment things too – my brother and sister-in-law took her to a chamber music concert – but not constant entertainment. So Mom’s actual presence isn’t really a reason not to post.

What is it, then? Getting Christmas presents organized, dealing with the tree, making a bunch of dinners, these things all add up. Time to get back on track.
